We are pleased to announce the 1.1 release of the Wing Commander Privateer Remake.

Created with feedback and observations from the 1.0 release, this version includes many improvements and balance tweaks. Targeting and navigation are more like the original. The HUD
images for enemy ships are now 2d wireframes, and show damage levels for the ships' four quadrants. Asteroids are destructible, and mining them is possible. The
repair droid actually works. The ship dealer makes a return, streamlining the process of selling an old ship and buying a new one. Cut off your enemies
communications by reducing their ship to dust! See the README for a more throrough look at the changes.

This release is available as a full download for Windos, Linux and Mac OSX, or as a much smaller patch for Windows and Linux. For discussion and support, visit
our forum.

We are pleased to announce the 1.0 release of the Wing Commander Privateer Remake. The original Privateer is a well loved game, with incredible graphics and gameplay for its day. Built on an open source codebase, the Remake is a community effort to bring the universe of the original into the 21st century, playable on all modern operating systems (win, mac, linux), and in 3d glory.

Privateer gives you the freedom to carve your own path in the Wing Commander universe. Opportunity abounds in the Gemini Sector. Wedged between the unknown frontier and the Kilrathi Empire, Gemini is home to various competing factions with which you can choose to align yourself.

Upgrade your ship or trade it in to deal with the demands of a Privateer. Find your fortune by logging into the mission computer, or take your chances with seedy characters in bars. Meet up with Sandoval in New Detroit, tilt back a glass with Demetria in a Munchen bar in the Tingerhoff System. Make your way as a trader, traitor, bounty hunter, or pirate. Only you can imagine what you might encounter beyond the frontier. Happy privateering!

We tried to alter the forum's appeareance to fit into our site's design concept, so some old crius.netlers (crius.net is our forum host) may miss a lot of features, while we think they are not necessary and only confuse unexperienced visitors. So, like our Privateer Remake site it will remain very rudimentary but easy to use and understand for first time visitors. Enjoy your stay!

While the Privateer Remake Release is in
sight, we decided to overhaul our web presence. Due to design and code issues the old one is completely gone, so what you see is made from scratch, designed with useability and compatibility in mind this site is completely hand--coded and uses a modem friendly image load. It will serve you as an information portal about the Privateer Remake project while it will not replace the game manual itself.

We do not plan to create a huge database here about the whole game content but don't think we're too lazy, it's more about a game should still have something to explore, we'll wait for fan-pages to grow up and reveal the storyline or secrets we placed within. Though content that requires a spoiler warning is not part of this site it will completely remain free from "game revealing" stuff. Our forum is still in development but we hope to have it online soon.
